Frequently Asked Questions

Open Shark and tap the calendar or the "+" button on the home screen. Select the date your period started, then tap "Log Period." You can also log your end date when your period finishes. You can add symptoms, mood, flow intensity, and notes at the same time. Daily logging takes less than 5 seconds.
Shark's on-device AI achieves 90%+ accuracy for cycle predictions after you have logged at least 3 complete cycles. The more consistently you log, the smarter the predictions become. All AI processing runs entirely on your device using Apple Core ML -- your data never leaves your phone for prediction calculations. During the first few cycles, predictions are based on statistical averages and gradually adapt to your unique patterns.
Yes, absolutely. All your health data is stored exclusively on your device. CrownLabs cannot see, access, or read your cycle data. There are no CrownLabs servers that store your health information. AI predictions run on-device using Core ML. Optional iCloud sync uses Apple's end-to-end encryption. We do not use analytics SDKs or advertising trackers. Read our full Privacy Policy for complete details.
Shark can optionally sync with Apple Health to read and write menstrual cycle data. Go to Settings > HealthKit within the app to enable this feature. You have full control over which data categories Shark can access. Permissions can be reviewed and changed at any time in iOS Settings > Health > Shark. HealthKit integration is entirely optional and Shark works fully without it.
Go to Settings > Export Data in the app. You can export your complete cycle history, symptoms, and notes as a file. This is useful for sharing with healthcare providers, keeping personal records, or backing up your data. The exported file includes all logged periods, symptom entries, and cycle predictions.
Go to Settings > Delete All Data within the app. This permanently erases all health data stored locally. You can also delete individual entries by tapping on them in the calendar or history view. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. If you enabled iCloud sync, manage that data through iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud. HealthKit data can be managed through the iOS Health app.
Go to Settings > Restore Purchases in the app. This checks your Apple ID for any active subscriptions or lifetime purchases and restores your Premium or Lifetime access. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID that was used for the original purchase. If the restore does not work, try signing out of your Apple ID and back in, then attempt the restore again. If you continue to experience issues, contact us at [email protected].
Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to iOS Settings > Apple ID (your name at the top) > Subscriptions > Shark, then tap "Cancel Subscription." You will retain access to Premium features until the end of your current billing period. Cancelling a subscription does not delete your cycle data -- all logged data remains on your device.

Common Issues

App Crashes or Won't Open

Force quit the app and reopen it. If the issue persists, restart your device. Make sure you are running the latest version of Shark from the App Store. If crashes continue, uninstall and reinstall the app (note: local data will be lost unless iCloud sync is enabled).

Predictions Seem Inaccurate

Shark's AI needs at least 3 logged cycles to provide personalized predictions. During the initial cycles, predictions use statistical averages. Make sure you are logging period start and end dates consistently. If irregularities persist after multiple cycles, consider consulting a healthcare professional as irregular cycles may warrant medical attention.

iCloud Sync Issues

Ensure iCloud is enabled for Shark in iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud. Check that you have available iCloud storage. Try toggling iCloud sync off and on in the app's Settings. Make sure both devices are signed into the same Apple ID and connected to the internet. Allow a few minutes for sync to complete across devices.

HealthKit Not Syncing

Check that Shark has permission to access Health data: go to iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Shark and ensure the relevant categories are enabled. Try toggling the HealthKit setting off and on within the Shark app. Restart the app after changing permissions. If issues persist, restart your device.
